Religious Education
What are you looking for?
These are the first words our Lord Jesus speaks in the Gospel According to John.* Throughout his life, the Lord Jesus was asking those whom he encountered deep questions. He invites us to ask him questions, too. How can I encounter God through prayer? Why does the Catholic Church offer the sacraments? Why does the Church teach this or that? How do I read Sacred Scripture to understand it more deeply?
To Know and Love God
The very first paragraph of the Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches that the Lord calls "man to seek him, to know him, to love him with all his strength."** Holy Family welcomes you to come with any questions you have about our Lord, our faith, our history or our traditions. No one is too old or too young to start learning, and we have an ever-expanding variety of activities and opportunities to grow deeper in knowledge of the faith. Whether you are a Catholic longing to grow deeper in your faith, or a non-Catholic curious to learn more, we invite you to join us. Our presentations on Sacred Scripture, theology, history, art, music and anything else are always open to the public. Popular ones in past years have included group studies with Bishop Robert Barron's acclaimed Word on Fire series, and presentations created by our Parish Catechetical Leader such as Angels: Shepherds of the Cosmos and Strange Stories of the Bible. Do you have an idea for a presentation or study group we should offer? Let us know!
Your questions about the Catholic faith are always welcome. Click the "Ask Us Anything" button below to submit your questions about the Catholic Church, its teachings, the Bible, or just ask what opportunities for religious education we are offering. We'd love to hear from you! And if you have an idea for something we should offer or want to get involved yourself, feel free to click the button and let us know that, too.
When Do We Prepare for the
Sacrament of Confirmation?
In 2025 the Diocese of Evansville announced Bishop Siegel's decision to move the age of Confirmation from 9th to 5th grade. Holy Family is fully prepared for this change.
- In the 2026-27 school year we will confirm 9th and 10th grade students.
- In the 2027-28 school year we will confirm 7th, 8th, and 9th grade students
- In the 2028-29 school year we will confirm 5th, 6th, and 7th grade students.
Several articles examining the sacrament of theology as well as an article announcing the change can be found on our website blog soon.
Any parishioners who have concerns or questions about the changes to confirmation preparation are welcome to click the "Ask Us Anything" button to the left and share their questions or concerns. Parents wanting information about how and when to register may also submit a question with the "Ask Us Anything" button.
